2025-2026 Faculty and Staff Permit Renewals
- Faculty, staff, and retirees can begin renewing permits in the Parking Portal on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Reminders will be emailed.
- Beginning Monday, April 28, 2025, permits for the current academic year will only be available by calling or visiting the parking office.
Faculty and Staff Permit Details

| General Staff | Valid only in General Staff campus lots. Many lots are located close to buildings. | Cost-effective option for employees. Close walking distance to most campus buildings. First-Come, First-Served: No guaranteed parking spot. Spaces fill up daily. |
| Ames Lab | Valid only in designated areas of Ames Lab Lot 26 and 28AL near Spedding Hall and the Metals Development Building. | If Ames Lab lots are full, you can park in General Staff lots 28, 29, or 30. |
| Reserved | Valid in your designated Reserved Lot and also in any General Staff Lot. | Spots are assigned based on availability. If there is no availability, you may request to be added to a waiting list (prioritized by years of service). Email parking@iastate.edu to request a reserved permit. |
| 24-Hour Reserved | Valid in specific 24-hour reserved parking spaces and any General Staff Lot | Contact the Parking Office for details and availability parking@iastate.edu. |
| Medical | Medical stalls across campus and General Staff Lots all day | Requires an ISU Medical Permit. |
| Motorcycle | Designated motorcycle stalls and certain hashed lines (included with a General/Reserve Permit) | More motorcycle parking details. Check the campus parking map for locations. |
| 1-Day "Scratch" for Faculty, Staff and Retirees | Valid in General Staff parking lots. | Available for purchase at the Parking Services office (27 Armory). The digital version is also available through the Parking Portal. |
| Departmental | Valid in General Staff parking lots all day and vendor/departmental stalls for posted limit. | Available for faculty or staff using a personal vehicle to conduct campus business. |
